The leadership of the House of Representatives has mandated its joint committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters; Finance and Labour; Employment and Productivity to commence investigations into the protracted face-off between the management of the National Insurance Commission and the workers’ union.
The workers, under the aegis of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Services Employees, had been involved in a prolonged industrial dispute with the management of the commission.
The dispute had led to the shutdown of the commission’s headquarters twice last year. The first closure was in March, while the second took place on November 23.
