The Chairman of Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre, Dr. Lekan Are, has flayed the Senate for refusing to confirm the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, as the substantive chairman of the commission.
Are said rather than relying on a report submitted by the Department of State Services to reject Magu without fair hearing, the Senate should look inward and ask its President, Bukola Saraki, to step aside because he had a number of cases in court which questioned his integrity.
He said, “Having been a public servant before, I have never seen where somebody is accused of doing something without officially giving him fair hearing. What was said to be the content of the DSS document against Magu arose long ago. At the time, Magu was given fair hearing and brought back. He was twice promoted after that and made to head the anti-fraud unit.
