Members of the House of Representatives and Mobil Producing Nigeria, on Wednesday, disagreed on the invitation sent to the latter to testify in the ongoing investigation into the alleged export of $17bn worth of Nigeria’s crude and gas resources between 2011 and 2014, which was not declared.
An ad hoc committee of the House, which is conducting the probe, had summoned Mobil Producing Nigeria and ExxonMobil to answer questions on the role they played in the controversial transactions.
But Mobil wrote the committee, which is chaired by a member of the All Progressives Congress from Adamawa State, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, that it didn’t think it was appropriate for the firm to testify.
