Corruption: Stakeholders drum support for anti-graft agencies

Corruption is one of the basic problems in Nigeria, which several past governments failed to address despite several promises to tackle the menace. Corruption as a cankerworm has eaten deep into the fabric of the Nigerian society and without any iota of doubt; the monster is responsible for the economic woes the country is facing.

Against this backdrop, many people were not surprised that the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC), on assumption of office took steps to tackle the canker worm headlong as one of the party’s campaign promises eradication of corruption in the country. But irrespective of the efforts being put made by the administration, corruption, no doubt still strives in the country.

The recent revelations on looting of public funds by former and present public office holders and discovery of looted funds stashed in private and public places, especially discovery of N15 billion in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, has made the people to be more concerned about the anti-graft war of the incumbent administration.
