SERAP seeks punishment for judges ignoring ACJA

socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has called on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, to ensure that all judges handling corruption cases adhere to the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, which was designed to ensure speedy dispensation of criminal cases.

The group said failure of any judge handling corruption cases to apply the provisions of the ACJA should attract punishment by the CJN.

SERAP made this call on Wednesday at its office in Ikeja, Lagos during the public presentation of its latest report titled, “Combating Grand Corruption and Impunity in Nigeria: Agenda for Institutional Reforms in Anti-corruption Strategies.”
