The inclusion of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, as a member of the three-man investigation panel constituted by President Muhammadu Buhari last Wednesday to probe the allegations of violations of the law and due process against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North-East (PINE) has come under public scrutiny.
The panel, which started work on Wednesday, is also investigating the discovery of $43.4 million by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos. Both the Rivers State government and the National Intelligence Agency have made claims to the recovered fund.
Headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the panel also has the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, as a member. The panel was given a 14-day deadline to submit its report to President Buhari.
