The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL), today asserted its position that the upper house of the legislative arm of government, the Senate, be scrapped for better efficiency in governance.
At a press briefing in Lagos, Chairman of CACOL, Debo Adeniran, posited that the current manifestations of members of the upper chamber, particularly, the leadership, give away the lawmakers, as presently constituted, as anti-development and anti-people.
The reaction of the group is hinged on present consideration of the Federal Government of Nigeria to conduct a referendum as to whether the country should adopt a unicameral legislature or retain the two chambers.
The Senate in Nigeria has been moving from one crisis to the other and at times engaging in dust-raising actions considered by a section to constitute palpable lull to the speed of achievement of the present administration.
