Court orders permanent forfeiture of ex-naval chief, Ezeoba’s N1.83bn

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday ordered the permanent forfeiture of the sum of N1.825bn linked with a former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dele Ezeoba (retd.).

The money, which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission claimed was diverted by Ezeoba from the coffers of the Nigerian Navy, had been found in the bank account of a company, Acquila Leasing Limited.

The anti-graft agency had dragged Acquila Leasing Limited and its alter ego, Chwuka Onwuchekwa, to court and had on March 16, 2017 obtained an order temporarily forfeiting the N1.825bn to the Federal Government.
