EFCC investigates electricity theft by consumers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has started investigating alleged collusion by some electricity consumers, power firms’ workers and meter manufacturers to steal electricity by bypassing the meter.

According to the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, the investigation by the EFCC is part of efforts aimed at curbing the incidence of energy theft in the Nigerian electricity supply industry.

It specifically said the anti-graft agency was carrying out the investigation in some of the areas covered by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
