How we found $9.8m in ex-NNPC GMD’s house — EFCC

The trial of former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Andrew Yakubu commenced yesterday.

Tasiu Abubakar, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) attached to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), told an Abuja Federal High Court that he led the team that recovered $9.8m and £74,000 from Yakubu’s house in Kaduna State.

He said the Intelligence and Special Operations Section (ISOS), got to the scene, obtained search warrant and on February 3, it met the caretaker of the house, who identified himself as Bitrus Yakubu, a brother to the ex-NNPC boss.
