PRESS RELEASE
The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL mourns the passage of Comrade Lateef Raji; a veteran of the struggle for democracy, a staunch progressive who until his death was a Commissioner of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC). He was also a former Special Adviser on Information and Strategy in the past administration in Lagos state.
From the trenches of struggles to public service, the indefatigable fighter for democracy remained committed to the collective struggle for a better society. Lateef was a supporter of CACOL’s anti-corruption and open leadership cause and a friend of the Centre who will be profoundly missed.
We wish the family, the fortitude to bear the pains of this great loss. Lagos state in particular and Nigeria generally has again lost one of its vibrant promoters of efforts to achieve an egalitarian society.
May the spirit of our departed comrade and that of the other martyrs of the masses’ struggle for emancipation continue to haunt our exploiters and oppressors!
Rest in Power, LR!
Rest Well!!
