The Senate on Thursday passed the Witness Protection Programme Establishment Bill sponsored by the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke (Osun-West), who died on April 23, 2017.
The bill seeks to unravel ‘highly organised criminal activities with the help of persons who are willing to volunteer information, evidence and other forms of assistance to law enforcement agencies’.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator David Umaru, in his presentation of the report on the bill, recalled that the bill passed first reading on December 9, 2015.
