Tension in Katsina as EFCC drags Shema to court

There was tension in Katsina for the better part of Tuesday as restive supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and those of the All Progressives Congress kept security operatives busy during the appearance of former governor Ibrahim Shema before a state high court in connection with his trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Also, there was tension within the premises of the high court when EFCC operatives prevented Shema’s vehicle from leaving the premises for about 30 minutes shortly after the court’s sitting.

The incident occurred shortly after Justice Ibrahim Bako had fixed ruling for February 21, 2017 to determine whether he had jurisdiction to entertain the corruption allegations levelled against Shema by the EFCC or not.

The judge had also fixed the same day to entertain a motion filed by Shema, demanding the court to prevent the EFCC from further harassing him.
