The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, has called on the Federal Government to immediately intervene in the ongoing strike by workers of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
According to CACOL, the federal government needed to take responsibility for the present crisis by immediately swinging into action in order to avert further industrial harmony, ensure the legitimate rights of workers to organize themselves into labour union, and to mitigate the negative impact of the on-going strike action on the ease of doing business in the country.
The striking workers under the aegis of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Service Employees (AUPCTRE) CAC chapter, had highlighted an imbalance in staff cost, industrial disharmony, huge salary disparity, among others, as the main issues that led to the strike.
